Diver Qualifications

Guam Date-Time:

WHY DO WE PUT DIVER QUALIFICATIONS ON OUR DIVES

On almost all of our dives we do not provide a guide unless requested and paid for.  We provide a "boat platform" for all divers to use, and each divesite is thoroughly briefed to all divers by our highly trained boat staff.  These briefing are designed to offer the most inexperienced diver with the necessary safety parameters to make their dive as safe as possible.

As on all dives, the paramount concern of the boat staff is the safety of all divers.  Due to the distances required to get to most of these sites and the water conditions that can change quickly, the individual divers training, experience and equipment is the single most important factor to making these dives safely.

If any diver needs assistance, it is all but impossible to recall other divers.  Each diver must have the ability to either assist themselves or depend upon the help of a fellow buddy.

DIVER QUALIFICATIONSPlease note that DEPTH alone does not determine the qualifications for a divesite.  Most of Guam's sites have varied depths from 10 (3 meters) to 150'+ (50 meters).

"ANY" are sites that have depths less than 50-60' and water conditions very favorable for all divers.

"ADV" are divesites that have a varied underwater terrain and/or present conditions that could require both additional training and experience.  Some of these sites have a high probability of currents, and/or have limited access to depths less than 40'. These sites will require some type of advanced cert and / or proof of experience diving in conditions very similar to these sites.

"ADV+50" Same as above plus proof of 50 dives after advanced certification (or equivalent experience).

"DECO" are divesites that have a varied underwater terrain and/or present conditions that require both additional training and experience.  These sites have a high probability of currents, and/or have limited or no access to depths less than 80'. These sites will require mandatory safety and/or decompression stops in "blue water" and very advanced cert and / or proof of experience diving in conditions very similar to these sites.

The "Pinnacle" divesite has an additional requirement that all divers to have an independent tank and regulator (pony) with at least 13 cuft capacity.

A safety sausage (tube) is also required for each buddy team as indicated on the schedule, and some specific dives require a safety sausage for each diver.
