 NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC  SPECIALTY COURSE

Are you a new or experienced diver who is looking to add some new adventure and fun to your dive résumé? Look no further as you now have an amazing opportunity to enhance your love of diving and underwater skills with the National Geographic Portal course.

Most divers are fascinated with the aquatic world, which inspires them to learn more. Because you have already learned the theory and skills of diving, the National Geographic Portal course gives you the opportunity to build on your dive experience to learn about new adventures, exploration and conservation opportunities.

What is this?  The MDA National Geographic Specialty course will help you take your dive experiences to a new level. You’ll learn more about the world’s oceans and waterways and discover details that will enhance your personal dive adventures.

During the  course you’ll take your exploration skills to an advanced level by collecting data to construct a visual representation of what you explored. This project may result in a map, graph, sketch, diagram, photo essay or video. You and your instructor will decide on your area of focus and plan your dive accordingly.

You’ll also gain buoyancy, navigational skills and marine life identity that will aid in the exploration process. Your exploration skills will give you a new appreciation for the aquatic environment and add enjoyment to each dive. You’ll find yourself sharing your discoveries with other divers and becoming a true underwater ambassador.

Who can take the course:  Whether you are a certified PADI Diver or certified by another organization, you can take advantage of the  National Geographic course. It consists of a knowledge review based on information from the National Geographic Diver Almanac and DVD. In addition, you'll fine-tune your buoyancy, navigation, exploration, and observation skills while on an open water dive.

What does the National Geographic Specialty Course include?  The course includes 3* dives, the National Geographic Portal-Pak, and certification as a National Geographic Diver.

The Portal-Pak includes a wealth of knowledge and underwater photographs so vivid you’ll be reaching for your regulator. Together, the National Geographic Diver Almanac and National Geographic Diver DVD combine to create this amazing package.

*For a limited time to introduce the course, 2 of the course dives will be boat dives and are also included at no additional charge.

What is the price of the course? The introductory price of the course is $100.

BONUS: If you have completed the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty or the MDA/GMAF Open water Diver course, you receive credit for one dive and a reduced fee for the course.

What recognition do I get as a National Geographic Diver?  You’ll receive a distinctive National Geographic Diver certification card. This card signifies that you have completed the program’s knowledge and skill requirements, joining an elite group of divers. You will show this certification card any time you need dive services as you travel around seeking new dive adventures

What is the difference between the National Geographic Diver Certification and the PADI Open Water Diver Certification?  As a National Geographic Diver your certification signifies you have all the abilities of an open water Diver plus additional knowledge that broadens your awareness of the aquatic realm and new skills to better explore underwater.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Course teaches you additional skills and knowledge to help prepare you for a multitude of diving experiences.
